V Predictions for 2010
V Ian
* Tablet industry takes off - apple top of the pile but a number
* New iPhone - video calling but what else - new design, background app's - spotify!
* Great new phones competing with iPhone
* Google vs apple vs microsoft - each company upping the anti
* Cloud computing - chrome os, office online, more and more of our content available via the cloud
* Augmented reality more than a gimmick? no standards
* 3D talked about A LOT but more - internet on your tv, tv's with net connection, project canvas
V Chris
* 3D will be bigger than we think - but not as big as the industry is hoping.
* By the end of the year, the competition will have crept up on the iPhone and there will be at least 3 alternatives that compete.
* The economy won't be anywhere near fixed and a tech recession is imminent as taxes rise and peoples savings are depleted.
* The Apple Tablet will appear but will be hugely priced and very niche.
* Chrome OS will see the launch of some properly priced JooJoo type devices and the market in web based applications will grow.
* Someone will find a need for Wave... probably.
* We'll have a new government. But probably one that is going to pander to the entertainment industry in equal measures and potentially cripple the internet even more.
V Henry
* A huge year for Microsoft, building on Windows 7 approval and the roll out amongst corporates over the next 12 months
* Bing will pay big money to get exclusive content (not just with NewsCorp),
* A phone to maybe compete with the iPhone
* Businesses promoting products via Apps, different to what we've seen so far
V Shakeel
* Mobile usage will grow, especially as smart phone competition hots up
V New iPhone - 64 GB capacity, Toshiba rolling out new Nand chips
* Higher resolution screen on iPhone but keep the physical size the same
* Improved camera, keep up with market and competition
* Video chat on the iPhone - soon please
* OLED TV - towards end of the year
* 3D TV - dubious but Samsung are going strong on it - CES should tell us more
* Apple Tablet for sure, produce something that will convince the doubters
