I've just watched the Engadget WinMo7 UI video and I was very impressed with it's layout and responsiveness.
It just needs a community behind it to make it fly.
Ignore this
Re: mobile phones and “signal bars”. Take it from someone who spent many years testing and optimising mobile networks, phone bars are complete horse dung.
If you imagine a scale from 1 to 10 where 10 is right next to the mobile cell site and 1 is no coverage/emergency calls only (you know no network at all). With this in mind, 5 bars on your phone represents a real world reception level of something between 10 and 4. 4 bars (on your phone) equates to a 3 and as soon as your phone displays 3 bars or less then you are at risk of dropping a call due to lack of coverage.
What I am trying to say is that the bars on your phone is not a linear scale and 2 bars on your phone is not half of 4 bars on your phone, or any mobile phone for that matter.
Don't even get me started on people claiming that they are “shorting out” or acting as a conductor across their iPhone 4 antenna……. it's capacitance.
Hi Guys…
Thanks for the mention on Podcast Episode 55…
I am your japanese listener… (Ikyusan)
Another great show especially the Honk Kong Phooey and Flash interludes..
Made me laugh as I have just moved to Hong Kong in a new role.. So you now have a Hong Kong listener,
The Asia tour continues
Keep up the good work
Sunil
Cheers for this Brian. I was sorely tempted before the podcast to get in touch to see if yo fancied coming on as an expert….and giving us a view on your new Android and 360. Offer is always there as I'm sure we'll prattle on about antenna's in the future.
Japan and Hong Kong – time to install a world map app for listeners on the website
Does it count if it is the same person? Surely you have to delete any reference to a Japanese listener now?
If there is anything in the future generally around radio (I mean things like a mobile network's air interface or base station technology) then by all means drop me a line.
Well I have spread the word in Tokyo so hopefully you have more listeners there now and working on HK..
Of course it counts if it's the same person. I'm desperate.
Nice one – we've found 'an expert'.
